Going Back to Work

I am heading back to work on the 29th after having a year off for maternity leave. I can’t really say that I’m excited for it or that I missed working. If you ever have the opportunity to take a long period of time off from work, I highly recommend it. I loved having the freedom to go out what it was nice and go for walks or visit the zoo. Or when the weather was terrible, just staying snuggled up at home. But that is all about the end.

Elliott is going to start going to his Day Home at the end of this week. He has only been left with someone other than me or his dad twice so far. And both times it was one set of grandparents. I’m a little nervous about how he is going to do with a stranger.

I’m also nervous about how our evening routine is going to go. On the days when Elliott is at the Day Home both my boyfriend and myself will be working until 6pm and will get home around 6:30pm. We usually start getting Elliott ready for bed around 7pm which means we have to try and figure out how to have supper ready pretty much as soon as we get home. I might have to start just feeding Elliott something easy like baby food or oatmeal and then mom and dad eat after he’s in bed. It’s going to be an adjustment for sure trying to figure out our new routine.

I’m also interested to see how his dad deals with being a main caregiver. For the last year, it’s been mostly me taking care of the baby (who I guess I can no longer call a baby). Now he will be with his dad 2-3 days a week, at the Day Home 2-3 days a week, and with me only 1-2 days a week. It’s going to be interesting.
