I finally got my car tonight. They delivered it to my house since there’s no way I could drive it home. It’s been at least six years since I drove last. Until today that is.
After work my boyfriend came with me while I drove in circles around my neighborhood. It was scary. I don’t really feel in control of the vehicle. I find it hard to know how close I am to other objects, especially on the right.
I hate changing lanes because I feel like I am cutting other people off. I hate having people driving behind me because I feel like I’m too slow, especially when I’m turning.
I really don’t know if I’m going to be ready to drive on my own to my appointment on Friday. Especially with a full bladder and lots of nerves. I guess I still have 3 more days to practice. I thought of another way I could get there without having to do much walking, so I probably won’t drive anyway.
I can’t wait to see how long it takes me to get comfortable driving. I hope I can remember to document it on here so I can watch my progress.
I also picked up my new glasses last Friday. Right away something seemed off with the persciption. The girl who was working told me to try them out for a week to see if I get used to them. I wore them all day Saturday and today but they are definitely not as good as my old ones. So I’m going to have to go back and see if they can fix that.
The nose piece also digs into my nose and makes it sore. I don’t know if there’s anything they can do to fix that. I guess if I’m only wearing them to drive it shouldn’t be too bad. But if would be great if it was something that could be fixed.

June 4, 2015 at 6:28 pmDriving takes time to get used to. I was a nervous wreck at first but now it is like second nature. I don’t think I just react. Not sure if that is good or not but it’s become habit.
I am sure you will be ready before your appointment. Just keep practicing and have patience with yourself. It’s a learning curve.
As for your glasses I feel for you. I got new ones about 3 weeks ago, first time wearing them all the time. I am having a hard time getting used to them.
One pair broke and they replaced them and the nose piece on one side is a fair bit higher on one side, the metal part so it can’t be fixed, part of me wants to take them back after all I paid money for them and part of my does not want to bother.
Hopefully you will get it figured out. I have taken mine back for adjustments so many times in 3 weeks everyone knows me by name lol.
