Health, Life, Work

It’s My Birthday!

I have made it another year around the sun. Birthdays are slowly becoming less important as I get older. I don’t really have any plans for my birthday this year. I wanted to get my hair cut but the weather is very grey and rainy so I don’t really want to leave my house. I am also not feeling my best self lately. I finally caught Covid in April and haven’t really felt myself since. I was one of the lucky ones who lost their sense of taste and smell which was very interesting. It was gone for 5 days and it was weird because I would make coffee and knew when it should smell like but there was nothing. Or I would eat sausage which I’m not really a fan of and expect to taste a certain thing when biting into it, but there was nothing. Food was just all about texture for that week.

For the last two weeks I have had a stuffy nose making it hard to breath and sleep. I don’t know if it is related to Covid (since it was a month ago) or if I all of a sudden developed allergies. It’s more annoying than anything (I hate not being able to breath through my nose) but it’s also caused me to be tired because I can’t sleep.

I do have a couple exciting plans coming up soon. Back in 2020 before Covid became a thing, I had booked flights to go home and see my family. The trip had to be cancelled and we have finally rebooked flights for this July. I am really hoping that nothing happens that results in the trip being cancelled again. I haven’t been home in probably five years, and my parents have only got to meet my three-year-old son once in person, when he was 4 months old!

Another thing I have coming up is school. I have decided to enroll myself in a Bookkeeping course which I will begin in August. This course can all be done online and I can do it while still working at the same time. I have been trying to find a career path that will hopefully offer more of a structured day, because I do not have that in my current position. Without structure and routine, I am constantly tired from feeling like I’m always trying to catch up. The only thing I’m worried about right now is being able to stay awake for the class. It’s only two days a week, a couple weeks a month; but it runs from 6 – 10 pm after already working a full day. So the end of the year is going to be tough, but hopefully it will be worth it in the end.

  1. Who knew that we were both May babies!?

    Happy Belated Birthday!

    1. Happy Belated Birthday to you too!

  2. Sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling the best. I have been fortunate enough to avoid covid so far *knocks on wood*, but a close friend of mine said that she felt like she ws run over my a freight train for about 2 weeks. Blech.

Also, Happy (belated) Birthday and hopefully it was a good one for you, and that you will enjoy seeing your family after such a lengthy time!

    1. Thank you for the birthday wishes!

  3. A really belated happy birthday.

Ugh sorry to hear you caught Covid, but glad your okay even if you still feel off. Sometimes that does happen with sickness. I know when my mom got sick with pneumonia after getting her second covid shot (she suspects that got her sick so won’t get any other ones), and she said she hasn’t felt quite the same. I hope in your case it lets up.

Allergies are a pain. I know when I was younger I never had issues with them, but have more now that I’m older.

Hope your trip goes on with no issues, and your classes go well!

    1. Thank you for the birthday wishes!

  4. A very belated Happy Birthday to you. 🙂
