Lately I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos. Two families in particular; The ShayTards and DudeLikeHella.
I’m not new to either of these channels. I have watched them off and on throughout the years. But I really started watching everyday about a month ago. It started again when I was looking through my Facebook feed and a viral video showed up.
Previously to this video I hadn’t heard of DudeLikeHella but I recognized Cory Williams right away from when I used to watch SMP Films. After watching the video I wanted to find out why he was in Alaska. After looking through his video list I found out that he moved there and documented his journey. Then I wanted to watch his journey and ended up binge watching all of his Alaska videos in order from the beginning. The things that he does and the way he lives his life is basically the same as mine, if I didn’t have to work. I am always looking for new things to do in the place that I’m living as I’m sure many of you know if you’ve followed my blog back when it was active. It is also the reason I started my new website Drag Him Out.
The ShayTards are also a family that I had watched back in the day. The thing I love about this channel is watching the family grow up. The kids are so polite and well behaved. And they are all super cute! If I ever get to have a family of my own, I would love to have one like theirs. Growing up, my dad also liked to take videos. I’m pretty sure he has every one of my childhood Christmas’ on video as well as most of our camping trips. I enjoy going back and watching them now and then, and he has also moved some of them on to DVD for me so I could have a copy.
I have recently started going back into the ShayTards other channels like ShayCarl and Katilette’s channels to see how the videos evolved. It’s interesting to see the kids and also Shay change over the years. Looking though their videos has also led me to channels of their siblings which gives another perspective of the family. I think it would be so interesting to grow up in their family and have so much of their lives documented to look back on in the future.
What do you think about documenting your live on YouTube? Do you think it would be something you would like to do? I think I would. I don’t think I would want to be the one recording, but I wouldn’t mind having a record of all the big and little things that happen in my life. What channels do you enjoy watching on YouTube?
