Fashion and Design Festival

August 28, 2010

Runway Last week I was looking around on Twitter and noticed that someone posted a link about an outdoor fashion show. I thought it looked cool and decided to check it out. It turned out that it was the first annual Fashion and Design Festival and Halifax was their first stop. It was a little disorganized but I forgave them because it was their first show. On the website they said the show was going to start at 7pm on Barrington St. but when we arrived we didn’t see anything happening. My brother looked around and noticed that there was a red carpet set up on a different street so we went to check it out. Not only did they advertise the wrong street, the show wasn’t scheduled to start until 8pm. So we sat around waiting…and ended up waiting until 8:30pm before anything really started happening. Finally when they got things started we were a bit happier. But they definitely need to fix a few things for the next time they do a show. They had trouble getting the microphones working and they forgot to turn on the lights for the red carpet for the first few girls. But all in all I guess it was a good first try. Oh wow, that’s crazy that they put the wrong street and the wrong time. I had a similar experience when I thought something was supposed to start an hour earlier than it did, but oh well, it turned out well after all, since it was a general admission thing, so we had a good seat.

Gah, how unorganised! I hope they signposted the move at least.
There is something I must say! The buildings in your area are all so beautiful! Everything looks like it has so much history. I’m jealous.

Wow how neat. That’s weird that the red carpet was just in the street like that. I would have only expected it in front of the door area of some building.

Such an interesting idea. If they planned a bit longer it might be perfect (: Hopefully next time it’ll be better.

That’s a cool concept. I love events like that. When things are brought out onto the streets for everyone to watch and/or participate. I watched a fashion show like that once too but the clothes were just these old lady creations from local stores so it wasn’t very interesting.
