Day 30 : Whatever tickles your fancy

July 30, 2010

Today ends the 30 day meme and I must say that I quite enjoyed doing this. I also think it’s neat to see that so many other websites have adopted it because of me or other sites that I visit who have also started doing the 30 days. But I will also say that I’m glad that the 30 days is finished. The last week or so was the hardest because the posts required you to do some tracking of your life. I had to go back through posts and other means to figure out what I did that...

Day 29 : Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days

July 29, 2010

I hope that my boyfriend finds a job soon because I know it’s a source of stress for him right now. But at the same time, I would like to stay in Nova Scotia for another year because I kind of know how subbing works here now and I like that. If my boyfriend gets a job we’re going to have to move to another province or even country. If that happens, I’m not sure that I will start teaching right away. Ideally we will continue living here for the next couple months, and then he will get a...

Day 28 : This year, in great detail

Day 28 : This year, in great detail

January This month started off with a bang, literally. My boyfriend and I celebrated the new year by spending some time with friends and checking out the New Years fireworks. This month a building down the road that housed some residents and restaurants caught fire. I’m happy to say that at least one of the restaurants is back up and running. My boyfriend turned 25 and I made him a birthday dinner which I almost never do. He’s the cook in the house. I got to do some teaching this month. And I went curling for the first time....

Day 27 : This month, in great detail

July 1st was Canada Day. My boyfriend had a sore foot so he was having trouble walking but was able to make it up to the parade route where we sat on Citadel Hill to watch the Nova Scotia International Tattoo Canada Day parade. Then we went home for lunch and went back out to visit the Citadel because it is open for free on Canada Day. They say that they have free cake but every year that I go looking for it I can’t find it. My boyfriend was getting thirsty so we walked down to road and...

Day 26 : Your week, in great detail

July 26, 2010

Sunday July 18, 2010 I got out of bed around 9am. Had breakfast (egg McMuffin and Orange Juice). Went on the computer to check the weather and my email. Went onto WordPress to schedule some more blog entries. Started downloading an episode of The Office US. 10am took a shower and shaved. 10:35am, came back on the computer. The download didn’t work. Got a call from Winston’s parents inviting us out. Got ready for the beach. Went to Winston’s house. Ate some toast for lunch. Went to the beach around 2pm. Every beach we passed was packed. We eventually...

Day 25 : Your day, in great detail

July 25, 2010

Saturday July 24, 2010 Got up around 7:30am and took a shower. Came on the computer to start downloading Futurama and checked my emails. Updated the SOTF contest and emailed the participants for the August contest. Updated my status and calendar on facebook. Started making breakfast around 8:30am. Looked up the no school days in the coming school year. Looked at Facebook. Played Family Feud. Worked on some blog posts. Ate again around 10:30am and made a meal to take with me to work. I left for work around 11:10am. I actually went in a little earlier than I...

Day 24 : Whatever tickles your fancy

On July 17th it was Parks Day in Canada. My boyfriend and I spent the day exploring McNab’s Island. The day started off looking like it was going to rain on us but we were lucky. The morning was overcast which was actually perfect because even without the sun it was very warm out. We knew that once the sun came out we were going to die of heat. Shortly after we arrived on the island we took off to explore on our own. As we were walking down the dirt road I saw a deer cross in front...

Day 23 : A YouTube video

July 23, 2010

I don’t watch YouTube videos as often as I have in the past because my internet is so slow at my current residence. I have to wait like five minutes for it to load before I can watch it, and that is very frustrating. However, I do have some saved under my favorites so I will share one of them with you. This is a video of a little boy seeing lobsters for the first time.

Day 22 : A website

July 22, 2010

One website that I try to visit as often as possible is Flaunty MB. I’m pretty sure I told you about this one before. It’s a message board that has really friendly members. The message board is pretty active as well. One thing I really like about this website is that a lot of the members are my age, so you don’t have much of those teenagers complaining about boys all the time . Another website I like is the Nerd Listings. I’m obviously very biased seeing as how I own the website. But it is the one website...

Day 21 : A recipe

One of my favorite party snacks are Mars Bars Squares. I make these when I have a group of friends coming over or if I need to bring a dessert to someone else’s party. I last made them on my birthday and took some pictures as I went so you can see how it should look as you go along. These are super easy to make. Mars Bars Squares 4 regular Mars Bars 1/2 cup of butter 3 cups Rice Krispies 1 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips (small package) 1 tbsp butter 1. Melt the bars and 1/2 cup of...

Day 20 : A hobby of yours

July 20, 2010

When I’m not working I spend most of my time on the computer. I like to work on my websites, play on facebook, play other online games. Sometimes I will play the Sims 3. My boyfriend thinks that I am addicted to the computer. But I’m not. I also like to check out the events that are going on around my city. That’s why I love the summer so much here. There is something new going on pretty much every week.

Day 19 : A talent of yours

July 19, 2010

Whenever someone asked me this question I would say that I was able to make websites. But now, I feel silly saying that because everyone seems to make websites now. And I’m not as good at it as I used to be because I’ve been busy with school the last few years. So now, I don’t know what my talent is. I used to be good at playing the keyboard as well. I was self taught and started playing when I was 3. But when I started high school I got too busy and stopped that as well. I...

Day 18 : Whatever tickles your fancy

July 18, 2010

Last weekend my city had their annual Zombie Walk. This is where anyone who wants to, dresses up like a Zombie and all walk together through the city. This year was the first time I was able to see this event and I was pretty excited that I wasn’t working that day. Unfortunately it was raining that day and my boyfriend didn’t want to go so I ended up going alone. But I had fun. Here is a video I took as they were walking by.

Day 17 : An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)

For St. Patrick’s Day in 2009 there was something going on at school where you could get into the bar for cheaper or something if you bought a shirt and decorated it (front and back). I spent a lot of time thinking about what to put on it and then actually making it so naturally I was pretty proud of the outcome. Here’s how it turned out:

Day 16 : A song that makes you cry (or nearly)

July 16, 2010

I don’t cry, often. But when I had my heart broken for the first time the song that would kill me every time was “How Do I Live” by LeAnn Rimes.

Day 15 : A fanfic

July 15, 2010

I can honestly say that I have never read any fanfic stuff. I really don’t see what would be so enjoyable about something like that. I don’t think reading stories written by your average joe would be very entertaining. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I have no idea what fan fiction is in the first place. If you want to educate me on this topic, please feel free. This post is part of the 30 Days series.

Day 14 : A non-fictional book

July 14, 2010

I don’t read very many non-fictional books. When I think of non-fiction I think of history books. And I hate history. I think of non-fictional books as boring. But then I started to think about it more. I was thinking about how maybe I should start reading more non-fiction. I think about stories like Anne Frank which I know nothing about and I think that it would be a story I would be interested in reading. One book that I have read which is non-fiction is called Dr. Arts Guide to Science: Connecting Atoms, Galaxies, and Everything in Between....

Day 13 : A fictional book

July 13, 2010

Most of the books that I read at fictional. I think one of the most recent favorites of mine is Twilight. I know most of you are sick and tired of hearing about this series. But I think the first book is great. I love the way it introduces us to the characters and their relationships with each other. I especially like the awkward relationship that develops between Edward and Bella. A lot of things about this book is awkward, but that might be why I like it so much. I am currently about half way through reading it...

Day 12 : Whatever tickles your fancy

July 12, 2010

The weather this last week has been beautiful. It has felt like it was in the 30s all week. I loved it so much. Maybe people were complaining about the humidity, but personally, it doesn’t really bother me. My boyfriend, his friend and I walked an hour to get to a beach on Wednesday and it was fantastic. It was the first time I went to a beach all summer. We went to a lake which I don’t normally enjoy (I prefer the ocean) but it was very refreshing. On the way home we stopped in at the Cold...

Day 06 : Whatever tickles your fancy

As many of you have already read, Queen Elizabeth was in Halifax visiting. Her schedule was posted online so I tried to follow her around to catch some glimpses of her. I noticed very early on that the Queen is not very punctual. We stood out in the pouring rain to wait for her to arrive. By the time I got to hear her speak we were soaked. And then I had to go straight to work. The next day I followed her as she left her house and went on a boat to participate in the Fleet Review...
